Linlithgow Palace
Active in the 15th and 16th centuries as a royal residence, or weekend retreat, and as a military checkpoint between Edinburgh and Stirling, the palace is also famous as the birthplace of James V (Stewart), who later married Marie de Guise, and their daughter, Mary Queen of Scots.
Had lunch at The West Port, which is a name that has ties to home in Wesstport, Kansas City. And if you know me and some of my close friends, you know we have a thing for the number 9, here at Table 9 on 9/9/2026.

Most of the standing structures date from the 15th and 16th centuries. Stirling was both a defensive stronghold, and later a royal palace, conceived by James V (Stewart) to dazzle his French wife Marie de Guis. James was almost 1 and a half years old when he was crowned and Stirling, and their daughter, Mary Queen of Scots was around half that age when she was crowned there at 9 months old.
