Linlithgow Palace
Active in the 15th and 16th centuries as a royal residence or weekend retreat, and as a military checkpoint between Edinburgh and Stirling, the palace is also famous as the birthplace of James V (Stewart), who later married Marie de Guise, and their daughter, Mary Queen of Scots (statue). The Chapple has a modern reintepretation of it’s steeple.

Most of the standing structures date from the 15th and 16th centuries. Stirling was both a defensive stronghold, and later a royal palace, conceived by James V (Stewart) to dazzle his French wife Marie de Guis.
James was almost 1 and a half years old when he was crowned and Stirling, and their daughter, Mary Queen of Scots was around half that age when she was crowned there at 9 months old.
